If this would be your first Ultherapy treatment
A first treatment is mostly calibration. You do not yet know how your skin responds, how much discomfort you tolerate or how long redness lasts on you, so a first plan for Ultherapy is reasonably a conservative one that can be adjusted later. In your twenties the more useful question is often whether Ultherapy is needed now at all, or whether skin care and sun protection answer the concern for the moment. A consultation that ends with "not yet" is a legitimate outcome, not a wasted visit.
A patient coordinator sees you first, and the doctor follows. Skin is assessed with an EVE V MUSE analyser.
While you are still researching Ultherapy
At this stage the goal is to understand what Ultherapy is and is not, not to choose a clinic. Look for the device or product name, what it is cleared or approved for, and the state of the evidence, and treat anything that sounds like a promised result with caution. Write down the two or three questions about Ultherapy you most want answered, so that a consultation becomes a check of what you have read rather than a sales conversation.
Micro-focused ultrasound with visualisation. Ultrasound energy is focused to a single point beneath the skin to create heat, and that stimulus is intended to prompt collagen and elastin remodelling.
Inside and outside the cleared wording
The wording FDA cleared is "lift" and "improve the appearance". Claims that it reverses sagging or replaces surgery are outside that wording. This distinction matters practically because being treated for a use outside the cleared wording is not unusual. What is not fine is being told the use is cleared when it is not. It is worth knowing what the label carries: a 510(k) clearance is a finding of substantial equivalence to an existing device for one stated indication, not a general endorsement and not a Korean approval — Korea regulates these devices separately.
Disclose these before treatment
Each of the following changes whether treatment is appropriate or how it is delivered. If nobody asks, say so anyway.
- Pregnancy, trying to conceive, or breastfeeding
- Current medication, particularly anticoagulants, isotretinoin and immunosuppressants
- Inflammation, infection, open wounds or active acne in the treatment area
- Implanted devices: pacemakers, defibrillators, and metal or filler in the treatment area
- Previous treatments to the same area, especially fillers, threads and surgery
- Autoimmune conditions or a history of slow wound healing
- Recent sun exposure, and any long-haul flight in the days after
- Any fillers or threads in the face and when they were placed
- Any thyroid treatment history, if the neck is being considered
Questions people ask
Am I too young for Ultherapy?
Age alone does not decide it. What matters is whether the concern you describe matches what Ultherapy is designed to address, and a doctor can only judge that after seeing your skin. Asking about alternatives, including waiting, is a normal part of that conversation.
What should I tell the clinic on a first visit?
That this is your first treatment of this kind, any reactions you have had to products or procedures before, and what exactly you want changed. The clearer the concern, the easier it is to tell whether Ultherapy fits it.
Where can I check what Ultherapy is actually cleared for?
Regulators publish clearance and approval records, and the wording matters: a clearance names specific uses. A use outside that wording is not necessarily wrong, but it should be described honestly.
What should I be wary of when reading about Ultherapy?
Promises of a particular result, one person’s outcome presented as typical, and prices quoted without the conditions behind them. None of these tell you how the treatment would go for you.
How do I reach Min Clinic if something comes up once I am home?
WhatsApp is answered between 09:00 and 19:00 Korea time, usually immediately or within about ten minutes. The clinic is closed on public holidays but still replies to messages left then. Keeping your treatment record to hand makes a message from abroad quicker to answer.
